About us

Earlsdon Student Homes have been offering good quality student accommodation in Coventry for over ten years. Initially operating under the name of Earlsdon Properties, we recently changed our name to emphasise our approach of working exclusively with students and offering student homes rather than student properties or houses. Our student housing is based on the typical terraced houses found in the Earlsdon district, but each property has been comprehensively and sensitively refurbished to ensure a modern, clean, comfortable home that meets the needs of today's students. In addition, our rolling review and maintenance process ensures that decoration is kept fresh and modern, that all appliances work as you would xpect them to, and that furniture and soft furnishings (carpets and curtains) are replaced if they are damaged or are becoming worn. All our houses are located in the CV5 postcode of Coventry, where Earlsdon meets Chapelfields. This area is popular with students from both the University of Warwick and from Coventry University as it is generally regarded as a safe area in Coventry (probably one of the safest), with good recreational facilities and is served by excellent communication links to Coventry City Centre and to Warwick's campus on the outskirts of Canley. Our aim is always to create a student house that feels more like home, and the feedback from several of our previous tenants suggests that we have achieved exactly that.

Since the start we have strived to provide top quality accommodation and were helped in this by the creation of the Coventry Accredited Property Scheme (CAPS). This set the benchmark for rented property in Coventry with a basic standard required for accreditation and then a system of stars rewarding properties for improvements in the key areas of safety, security, energy efficiency and other facilities. We were delighted when one of our houses became the first property to be accredited in Coventry, and gainied the ultimate award of 5 stars. Unfortunately CAPS was one of the victims of the cuts in spending by Coventry City Council and the scheme ceased to operate from around 2010. We are planning to re-publish much of the CAPS documentation here for those who wish to know more about the workings of the scheme. Please look back later if it's not already there.

Finally, a note about verifying that your landlord (any landlord) is genuine. If you are paying £100 or more in fees or deposits then you need to make sure that you're not the victim of a scam. Always make sure that you view the property and meet the landlord or letting agent personally. If you are an international student and unable to visit before booking accommodation then check with your Student Union's advice centre to see if they have a list of reputable landlords. Also check if your landlord is a member of a recognised body such as the National Landlords Association (NLA) and confirm their membership with that organisation.
